Reminds me of a guy I knew a few years ago who had a beautiful LR Disco2 that was lifted with steelies and every other tasteful yet practical mod you can think of. He had a disability parking permit though you would never know why just looking at him. But he actually had a titanium leg from halfway up his thigh. If someone called him out on parking in handicapped spots he would just lift his pant leg, which happened on occasion.

My dad had polio as a child and two knee replacement. He has a handicap license plate because he can’t walk very far without pain.

He still gets harassment to this day, at almost 70 years old.

I feel like we have this hole in our education where we think that if someone is wrong, they need to be destroyed. So, if we see someone doing something that we don’t understand, we not only prepare for correcting the situation, but we also go into a self-righteous rage. I’m not sure when combat became the response to simple incompatibilities, but it seems it is (even if it’s just mental combat).

I’d be willing to bet that when the people who harass your dad realize that they were wrong, they sidestep their responsibility for having been a dick and just look for something else to use the unnecessary adrenaline on.

I've never understood this. If they have the proper stuff, be it a placard or license plate, then let them be. You know what, let them be regardless. Leave people alone and don't be a dick, be passive aggressive about it.

Some day I really want an AM General M923. Aside from pulling people out of ditches on snow days, I want to take it to run errands while wearing a tutu. Then people see me and the dumb compensation tgoughts/comments come, and I hop out in my tutu free of any insecurities.

People who accuse of compensating often drive big CUVs or SUVs.

So, pot, meet kettle. :)
